The Little Yoga Mat Gives Children (and Moms) Some Peace of Mind

Playing is hard work! After-or even during-a long day of swimming, baseball, tree climbing, fort building, lemonade selling, and other fun but strenuous summer activities, it’s nice to relax. The Little Yoga Mat is designed specifically for that purpose.

Made from eco-friendly TPE (a soft, foam-like material), The Little Yoga Mat provides a comfortable cushion for stretching, sleeping, or silent play confined to a small area. The deep breathing involved in yoga is beneficial for calming young children, and can be employed for smooth transitions from rambunctious play to quiet-time or naptime. But, even if you don’t introduce a yoga routine to your child, you can introduce The Little Yoga Mat to your child’s routine. The mat can simply be used to signal a calmer time of day.

Due to the mat’s small proportions, designed to accommodate children ages 0-4, kids feel as though The Little Yoga Mat is truly their own. Its light weight makes it easy for toddlers to tote, and its bright colors make it appealing. Jensen Wheeler Wolfe-who started The Little Yoga Mat company in response to a need she saw in her daughter’s preschool classroom-explains that she wanted her products to be real yoga mats. The two styles–the sun mat and the lotus mat-were inspired by real yoga positions, but are printed with bright-colored, soy-based ink to be attractive to, and safe for, children.

The Little Yoga Mat is, however, just as mom-friendly as it is child and eco-friendly. It can easily be rolled up to fit in a diaper bag or stroller, it has a safe non-slip grip, and it is simple to both clean and store.

So, moms, take a deep breath. The Little Yoga Mat provides the perfect outlet for you and your little one to unplug!

Timbuk’s Favorites for Fun with Fathers

Father’s Day is just around the corner, and Timbuk Toys has just the right gifts for the “old man” who’s young at heart!

While roasting marshmallows with your father, this summer, why not try a game that’s really  smokin’?! With Marshmallow Shooters, or a Bow and Mallow, see who can propel those sugary confections the farthest. Can you shoot them into each other’s mouths?

What’s that you say? Your father used all the marshmallows as fish bait? Never fear - rubber bands make equally promising projectiles. Whether you’re playing cowboys, cops, or pirates, Rubber Band Shooters are a Father’s Day gift that’s right on target!

Or perhaps, while playing pretend, your papa prefers to be an astronaut. For the father who’s “out of this world,” there’s nothing better than the combo of Astronaut Space Pack Water Gun and Space Shuttle Pool Float! This pool float is so relaxing and comfortable that, after just a few minutes, your father will be initiating the lounge sequence: 10…9…8…7…6…Zzzzzzz.

While we’re on the subject of aeronautics, you might also want to pick up for your pop: a Remote-Control Helicopter, The World Record Paper Airplane Book, a Sky Diver Kit, or the Star Wars Folded Flyers Set by Klutz!

And, speaking of things that fly… How about a potato?! Steve Spangler’s new book, Naked Eggs and Flying Potatoes, will teach you to do everything from creating “fireworks” in a bowl, to constructing your own lava lamp, to converting cornstarch into quicksand! Not only will this amazing book tell you how these wacky experiments work, it will tell you why. These experiments offer the perfect tools for fathers to prevent summer learning-loss, while promoting fun!

Also new to Timbuk is a ring toss game, called Muckers, that your father is sure to love, and you are sure to love playing with him. Perfect for barbeques, the beach, or the park, the nylon strap makes this set of four rubber rings and two step-in pegs remarkably portable. (And, speaking of rings, perhaps your father needs a Service Bell, to ring for your attendance, and his breakfast in bed, on Father’s Day.)

Another game that’s sure to hit the mark is a Timbuk favorite by the name of Flickin’ Chicken! Yep, you heard right. Flickin’ Chicken is the name of the game. Similar to bocce ball, the object is to throw your rubber chickens closer to the target than your opponents’.

When you start throwing chickens and launching potatoes, you must set some boundaries, lest things get out of hand. For any outdoor game you play, this summer, nothing sets the boundaries like Melissa & Doug Activity Cones. And, for any minor booboos that do occur, you can equip dad with Bacon Strip Bandages.
We know that a father’s life can’t be all fun and games; but, you can brighten his workday with desk toys! For the father to whom flatulence is more about flair than air, there’s nothing better than a Brain Fart. (A toy brain fart, we mean.) When your father gives this rubber brain a squeeze, it will emit a series of “toots” that express what words just can’t! Pin Art is another great option for desk distrac… we mean… fun! And, of course, every desk needs an encyclopedia. Our favorite volume is The Encyclopedia of Immaturity by Klutz.

It may seem as though our Father’s Day recommendations are wrapping up; but, Knot So Fast… is the name of another great game for dads! How much Boy Scout knowledge has your father truly  retained? This game is sure to reveal whether or knot  he is the Master of the Magnus Hitch and Lord of the Lariat Loop! Draw challenge cards, and race to see who can tie each depicted knot the fastest! There are beginner challenges, and those that will tie all but the experts in knots. Can you  conquer all the knots, or will they give you the slip?

At Timbuk Toys, every holiday is about play! You don’t have to be little to Discover the Fun. So, come play with us this Father’s Day!
